Week 4

Hello guys welcome back to my blog and today I have another post for you guys. I will be sharing about the lessons i have just learnt in week 4.👀

Update

My team has decided to continue our project on sustainability in the environment. We came up with using beans and vegetation as a fake meat through the help of a machine. This little machinery aids out idea in making🌟sustainable meat🌟.
There are actually numerous benefits to this and the first is that fake meat converted from beans and other vegetation are more nutritious and altogether a healthier meat substitute. Second reason why my team has settled with this idea because it decreases Global Warming in general! 

Fun fact: cattle ranching ( taking care of animals ) is a major contribution to global warming due to significant amount of methane and nitrous oxide (powerful greenhouse gases). These gases are created during digestion due to enteric fermentation and is released via belches and farts.🤮😭


Third and last reason is that fake meat (bean made meats) are extremely customizable as different items can be added into these meat for personal preference and reasons. 

SCAMPER

Scamper is a checklist beneficial for us during or brainstorm lesson.
It is a acronym for us to easily remember shown below.




Each of these word hints us in a way that we can change and provide benefits to our product for example;
Combination. Combining music and gift cards or letters to make it more appealing and pleasing to consumers.
Adaptation; Changing the pattern of the  snow tires so that it travels through snow easier.

My group has found SCAMPER super helpful as we immediately could differentiate which idea were possible which ideas were impractical. 

An example was substitution of meat, whereby we substitute meat from cattle ranching to using lab-grown meat. These meat are extracted from a cell from an animal and cultivate them in a reactor to multiply and form a meat of meat.

After much discussion my team has finalized on making a machine that kneads and ferments wheat flour to create seitan, a meat substitute.

Personally I have found scamper useful when establishing the opinions and ideas. It really allowed me to organized my thoughts and share it with the team. We also were able to think of more ideas as scamper also acted as a hint and is a definitely a catalyst in generation of my teams idea.

For 1&2 I learnt that it is either a Go or No Go which means its either 👍or👎
1. Budget is as we all know all about the money money money💸💰
This includes consumable, equipment, external laboratory testing, engineering modification/outsourcing, waste disposal and transportation.
2. Project to be done in a timeframe provided. 
This includes: Chemicals/equipment delivery, Equipment modification/repair and license application.
3. An example will be if our project was within the limits of our technology? In our case it definitely is!
4.An example will be if our project was legal and sure enough it was!

S - ScoreMy team and I came up with many many criteria to select the best and finest idea:

  • Market demand

  • Market competition

  • Cost of ingredients

  • Cost effectiveness of machine

  • Availability of equipment and tools (to make machine)

  • Space consumption

  • Ease of cleaning and maintenance

By using COWS we narrow the ideas to our final one which was to devise a machine that grinds knead and ferments wheat flour into seitan which is a meat substitute due to the texture. We had a few minor problems that intensified our discussion however the one problem that we faced was the total points for two of our idea was the exact same, so we couldn't choose. After another intense session of debate we choose to change one of our criteria to select only one idea.

Even though my group has done the idea screening process we were still left with many voids unfilled for example how to make fake meat look more APPETZING. How else can we increase the texture and taste of this product we have design and lastly what are the creative ways to CUSTOMIZE your own fake meat. We have done our research and pleased to announce that there are many possible solutions and our fake meat WILL BE very much customizable! Therefore do stay tune to find out on our little update!

 Takeaways (week 1-3) Hello!
